SIDI128 ENCLOSURE R18 — MATCHING M2.5 INSERTS THROUGHOUT Open index.html for the illustrated guide; viewer.html to orbit/explode. All twenty enclosure inserts use the photographed Hanglife size: M2.5 thread, 3.5 mm outside diameter, 4 mm length. Nominal pilot: 3.2 mm. PRINT THE SMALL JOINT FIRST Print 10_base_insert_coupon.stl and 11_gray_tab_coupon.stl as supplied. The base coupon's three pilots are 3.16 / 3.20 / 3.30 mm, left to right when viewed from the open pocket mouths with the connecting strip behind them. The MIDDLE 3.20 mm position matches the case. The 3.30 alternative is only a print-tolerance test, outside the package's recommended 3.16–3.2 range. Install an insert with the gray coupon detached and the exit clear. Stop flush, cool, check the thread, slide the gray tabs into the pockets and fasten gently from underneath with M2.5x6. Check head retention, clear threads, a firm joint and bridge quality. Do not force screws through plastic inside inserts. Also test 08_hardware_coupon.stl for the lid inserts, whose bores print horizontally in the faceplates. WHAT TO PRINT / REUSE From R17: replace 02_lid.stl, 05_left_plate.stl and 06_right_plate.stl. Use this matching set; add four M2.5 inserts and four M2.5x6 screws. The other seven STL files match R17 exactly, including base and front/rear. Each faceplate now has two upper inserts. All R17 ports, wider front feet, bevels and outside dimensions are retained. From R16 also use the current base and front/rear plates for the previous feet/bevel update. Use fresh R18 STLs and read BAMBU-STUDIO.txt before slicing. HARDWARE - 20 M2.5 inserts, OD3.5 x L4: 8 base faceplate mounts, 4 base PCB posts, 8 upper tabs: two on each faceplate. - 20 M2.5x6 button/pan-head screws: 8 faceplates, 4 PCB, 8 lid. Head diameter 4.5–5.0 mm; height <=2.0 mm for flush underside recesses. Screw lengths are measured under the head. No M3 enclosure hardware. - 4 insulating PCB washers: OD6 x thickness0.5, bore >=2.8 mm. Faceplate and lid heads need no washers with the specified dimensions. - 3 M4 monitor screws: head <=7 x 4 mm, 3 mm Allen drive. Their under-head length = 11.6 mm + external spacer height + monitor-permitted engagement. With supplied 5 mm spacers: 16.6 mm + engagement. Confirm monitor limits. ASSEMBLY 1. Test coupons. Print the base underside down and faceplates/lid visible face down, as supplied. Use millimetres and 100% scale. 2. Install 12 inserts in the bare base: 8 faceplate bosses, 4 PCB posts. Install 8 inserts in upper tabs across all four panels while those plates are detached. All bores pass through: keep their exits clear and stop inserts flush. Do not heat-set against the gray tabs or with the PCB installed. 3. Fit the PCB with four insulating washers and four M2.5x6 screws. Tighten gently. PCB nominal thread engagement is 3.9 mm with the washers. 4. Slide the four faceplates over their ports. Their gray lower tabs enter the underside pockets in the base. Secure from underneath using eight M2.5x6 screws. Each head bears on 2 mm of gray plastic around a 2.8 mm hole; the insert is in the dark base. Nominal engagement: 4.0 mm. 5. Close the lid with eight M2.5x6 screws. Nominal lid engagement: 3.6 mm. Check all ports, switches and SD access. 6. For VESA mounting, remove the eight lid screws and lift off the lid. Fit the three external spacers between base and monitor. Lower the M4 screws from the open top through the existing PCB holes and base supports, and tighten into the monitor with a 3 mm Allen key. The heads stay above the PCB mounting pads. Refit the lid afterward. The mounting pattern is unchanged: three points on an exact 100 x 100 mm grid. No guide tubes. Remove the lid again to detach from the monitor; support the case while undoing M4 screws. For faceplate service, detach from the monitor, remove the lid and undo the relevant underside faceplate screws. PRINT / TEST NOTES Starting point: tuned PETG, 0.4 mm nozzle, 0.20 mm layers, five walls and five top/bottom layers; solid insert regions. Inspect the slice and pocket bridges. Base pockets bridge about 10.4 mm. Enable support OFF; no brim or outer brim only; zero raft layers. Slice again and check Preview. The bevels do not change these slicer settings for you. Every part fits a 256 x 256 mm bed. The three changed parts were slice-checked in Bambu Studio with supports off. No machine-specific G-code or sliced Bambu project is supplied. Actual insert grip, melt flow, bridge quality, physical fit, temperature and mounting strength need testing. All four faceplates follow the current October 14 ports. The 100 mm VESA axes, labelled reinforced lid and compact dimensions are retained.
