Minimig v1.98itx 6MB Purple ENIG
The Minimig v1.98itx is a major Mini-ITX Minimig hardware revision with a 6-layer ENIG PCB, improved routing, stronger power handling, 6 MB RAM, and expanded accelerator compatibility work.
Minimig is an FPGA-based Amiga-compatible system. This v1.98itx board keeps the classic Minimig idea while improving the physical hardware around power, signal integrity, CPU support, and expansion testing.
Hardware Highlights
- 6-layer purple ENIG PCB: improved board construction with a stackup focused on better signal integrity and power distribution.
- Super coupling design: SIG/PWR-GND stack approach used across the board for cleaner power and return paths.
- Improved routing: significant PCB routing cleanup compared with older revisions.
- SN74CBTD level shifting: fast level shifting for compatible signal handling.
- Onboard +5 V voltage regulation: DC/DC regulation supports input from +5 V to +12 V.
- Power protection: resettable fuse, SBRT Schottky diode, and solid capacitors.
- Rail LEDs: visual status indicators for +2.5 V, +1.25 V, +3.3 V, and +5 V.
- Mini-ITX form factor: includes ITX power connector plus LED and button headers.
- 6 MB RAM: expanded memory for the Minimig environment.
CPU and Accelerator Support
- Supports MC68SEC000 and MC68HC000 CPU configurations up to 30 MHz depending on setup.
- Tested with TF030 at 50 MHz.
- Tested with 68EC020-TK.
- Supports PiStorm use, including kick.rom caching made possible by removing the old BootROM path.
- Includes improved FastSPI support.
- Accelerator compatibility can vary, so not every third-party accelerator board is guaranteed.
Core and MIA Notes
This release includes the updated Amiga OCS/ECS FPGA core. The MIA chip logic is responsible for replacing the old BootROM approach, which helps with accelerator compatibility and PiStorm use.
Removing the BootROM dependency was an important hardware/software change because many accelerator setups need cleaner boot and memory behavior.
Included
- Minimig v1.98itx 6 MB Purple ENIG board.
- 16 GB SD card containing the Minimig FPGA core.
- MC68SEC000 CPU for 16-30 MHz operation depending on configuration.
- +12 V 4 A universal power supply.
Not Included
- Case, keyboard, mouse, joystick, display cable, accelerator card, and other accessories unless specifically stated.
